the internet revolution. is it flawed?

i read blogs all the time and i must say the one thing going on right now is the fact that most services are moving to the internet, and operating systems such as windows or programs like microsoft office may no longer be needed in a good couple of years.

however, i think i might have to disagree with that for the first time after embracing this movement for quite some days. yesterday out of nowhere, my at&t phone line went dead, therefore losing my internet in the process. with the internet connection lost their was literally no way to gain access to facebook, aim, or email. basically, yesterday was not the greatest day because socializing and interacting became way too hard. eventually, my closest solution was connecting to one of my neighbors great wi-fi’s which gave me an AMAZING download speed of 6.2 kb/sec. so all this brought up the idea, on why do blogs throughout the tech world continuously praise web services when there is a high possibility that one may lose internet connection? even here in america( where internet is great ,not as good as europe) if we experience such problems is that not troubling?
